This is a mixed tenure residential development of 649 homes, including a variety of low and medium rise buildings with a mix of apartments, maisonettes and single-family houses.  The development is close to the busy A13 but is projected from traffic noise and pollution by the flagship Atrium Building (described separately).  Buildings step down in height across the site to maximise sunlight and daylight and the development incorporates the reconstructed and expanded Kier Hardie Primary School and an existing community centre at its heart.  Construction was carried out in phases and is a mixture of concrete frame for the medium rise and masonry with prefabricated components for the low rise.  The original concept design and masterplan was by award winning architects Macreanor Lavington.  The project won a Housing Design Award in 2009, a Housing Design Award shortlisting in 2012 and LABC “Best High-Volume Residential Scheme” for the Atrium building.  I was Project Director, leading the technical design from 2009 to completion in 2018.
