Stonebridge Estate Regeneration

This was a large-scale residential regeneration project of over 2000 homes in Harlesden, North London involving the phased replacement of 1970’s high rise concrete tower blocks with a mixture of low-rise apartment buildings, maisonettes and single-family houses, with none more than 4 storeys high.  SEH’s new masterplan was chosen by residents by ballot following extensive consultation and was based on a traditional street pattern with secure back gardens.  I was Project Architect leading the technical design and delivery of one of the earlier phases to be built, from 2000 to 2004.  This phase included around 150 homes, ranging in height between 2 and 4 stories, with a mixture of timber frame terraced houses and masonry apartment buildings.  The development won many awards including the RICS “National Regeneration Award” in 2010 and the London Planning “Five Years On” award in 2012.
