Experience

Following 10 years with smaller architectural practices, I moved to Shepheard Epstein Hunter, a medium sized company based in Kings Cross, London. The practice was founded in the 1960’s and specialises in the residential, educational and public building sectors.  It has a holistic, approach to design that draws on architecture, landscape and master planning traditions.  I joined the practice in 1999, becoming an Associate in 2001, Associate Director in 2006 and Director in 2008.  During my time here, I was involved in a wide range of new-build, extension and refurbishment projects, working on all stages of design development, but gaining particular expertise in technical design, legal matters, business finance and town planning.

Up until now there has not been a great deal of time for personal projects.  However, there have been a few, often working with my wife, Fiona Henderson, who was also an architect for a number of years before she saw the light and became a teacher!  I have always sought to make the projects as sustainable as possible, and they have often served as a means of exploring different approaches to design, both technical and aesthetic.  None of the photographs in this section are professional, but hopefully they give a flavour of the projects!
